Dear Bay Weekly: A friend and colleague from Missouri recently visited the area and brought her family. They made a special trip to the Calvert Marine Museum because of her young son’s interest in paleontology. Her son, Ben, had seen Dr. Stephen Godfrey featured in a National Geographic Prehistoric Predators special on Megalodon Sharks. The family was pleased that Dr. Godfrey agreed to meet five-year-old Ben and give him a special tour of the Calvert Marine Museum....

Chesapeake Christian Fellowship Puts Love into Action

On Saturday, April 30, 260 volunteers from Chesapeake Christian Fellowship in Davidsonville put their love into action. From West River to Pasadena, 520 hands were busy building ramps, replacing floors and roofs, painting walls, clearing wooded areas, mulching, weeding and planting. The work was spread over 17 sites, including Central Special School, South County Rehabilitation Center and Camp Wabana in Edgewater; AA Outreach Center in Annapolis; and Camp Whippoorwill Girl Scouts in Pasadena....

Farewell, Mr. Owl

Dear Bay Weekly: Sadly I must tell you Mr. Oliver T. Owl passed away on the morning of April 17. When I visited with Oliver at the Davidsonville Wildlife Sanctuary, rehabilitator Sandy Carr said he was doing well, eating the meat she was offering him. He seemed alert and checking everything out from his perch in an aquarium in her clinic. I had an opportunity to stroke his rear neck feathers — oh, so soft — and he didn’t seem to mind....
