Farewell Piper, Bay Weekly Delivery Dog

Piper Dog made her last Bay Weekly distribution run Thursday, March 1. She died in my arms as we got home. She knew she was loved and cared for, and she returned that love and care twice, no three times, over. Life goes on, but I’m not sure how right about now.

Piper came to live with us in February 2006, a timid, scared girl.  And from the very first Thursday she traveled with Jim on his distribution route. She quickly came to anticipate where she would take a walk, getting all excited and wagging her plume of a tail. She had that same excitement Thursday.

We have been blessed. And we still have memories.

Where Has All the Water Gone?

I wanted to share with you this image of Parker Creek emptied out on  March 3, 2018 by the Nor’ Easter that blew 60mph-plus winds for three days.

You can see water only in the inlet from the Bay, dredged just last month. No one from Deale knows when this has happened last. My neighbor, who moved in across from me in 1951, has never witnessed such an event.
