Help Make a Parade

Show your love for the Patuxent

Your creative mind can earn you some cash this fall. Design the best float for the Patuxent River Appreciation Days parade, and your group or organization can win $300. Second and third places net a nice hunk of change as well.

Held annually on Columbus Day weekend, PRAD celebrates all the river means to Southern Maryland. The parade wraps up the festivities Sunday afternoon.

The PRAD committee wants you to help make a parade. Whatever your organization — scouting and 4-H groups, schools and school bands, ROTC, Navy and Coast Guard, boating clubs, police, fire and rescue, team mascots, antique car clubs — you can be a winner. School bands will also receive a stipend for joining the parade. Contact Randy Geck: [email protected].

Patuxent River Appreciation Days: October 6 and 7, at the Calvert Marine Museum in Solomons; 10am-5pm; with the parade Su 2pm.
