Anti-Litter Crews Needed

     Saturday’s forecast calls for sunny skies and temperatures in the 60s.

     One way to get out and enjoy the warm weather is to join in the annual watershed cleanup.

    Volunteers are needed to help Alliance for the Bay’s Project Clean Stream team collect trash.

    Project Clean Stream is an annual event for the Bay watershed and communities. The project supports all six states the Bay touches, as well as Washington, D.C., with stream and woodland cleanups.

    More than 2.5 million pounds of trash were removed from local waterways in last year’ cleanup.

     Choose from seven local sites, being sure to rvsp beforehand:

Quiet Waters Park, Annapolis, Sa 8:30am, 443-880-4451;

St. Luke’s Church, Eastport, Sa 9am, 917-939-9409;

Forest Drive between Hillsmere and Annapolis Neck Sa 9am,

301-769-1410;

Severn Run Natural Environmental Area, Sa 9am, 410-923-0262;

Bowie area, Sa 9am, [email protected];

Bear Branch, Severna Park, Sa 12:30pm, 410-987-6042;

Edgewater Park, Sa 10:30am, 443-454-4652.

     Most needed are volunteers to clean up the section of Forest Drive that runs from Annapolis Neck Road to Hillsmere Drive.

     “Please come,” says Kate Bohanan, site captain for Alliance for the Bay. “Last year we had only five people helping.”

     To help beautify Forest Drive, which sorely needs it, meet at the Beechwood Hill community entrance — Quiet Waters place — Saturday, April 6 at 9am. Bags and gloves are provided for the two-hour cleanup.
