The American Chestnut Land Trust’s Annual Auction and Dinner, Locally Yours

On September 26, celebrate all things local, starting with community farming on ACLT land.

“This year kicked off our CSA,” says spokesperson Joy Woppert. Named Double Oak Farm, the garden was planted on farmland that had been fallow for years.

The other local milestone ACLT is celebrating is the planned Prince Frederick Overlook Trail. The new seven-and-half-mile trail will connect an existing trail to Prince Frederick’s Main Street.

Capping off the busy year is Locally Yours.

Calvert caterer Dream Weaver will be filling bellies with menu items made using local ingredients. A taste of the bounty: Small plates filled with good things to sample, a salsa bar, cheese selection, rockfish, chicken kabobs, beef sliders, chard gratin, mixed grilled veggies, fried green tomatoes, grits bar, corn pudding, spiced pumpkin pie, rustic fruit crumble.

After feasting, Bill Chambers will be back on the auction block, encouraging bids on vacation rentals on beaches and in the Colorado Rockies, fishing trips, sailing excursions, jewelry, and restaurant gift certificates.

Even the music is local. Calvert County native singer/songwriter Courtlyn Carr will be making her music throughout the evening. Proceeds support American Chestnut Land Trust’s efforts to preserve natural and cultural resources of Calvert County.
