“Sparkle and Soul” Piano and String Concert

Event Date:  November 3, 2017 - 8:00pm - 10:00pm On November 3 at 8 PM, Brian Ganz will be joined by Trio Ponce, formerly the Alan Saucedo Trio, which includes Alan Saucedo on cello, Cynthia Saucedo on violin, and Marjory Serrano on violin for an evening of Chamber Music. Rachmaninoff’s soulful Trio Élégiaque and Beethoven’s sparkling Trio in E-flat major, Op.1, No.1 will be featured, among other compositions. Schubert Soiree

Event Date:  June 4, 2017 - 7:00pm - 9:00pm The Annapolis Chamber Players are thrilled to finally bring you Franz Schubert’s popular and seldom heard Octet in F, Op. 166 for clarinet, French horn, bassoon, 2 violins, viola, cello and contrabass presented in an intimate setting for which it was intended. Written in 1824, the Octet was commissioned by Ferdinand, Count Troyer, a clarinetist and musical friend of Archduke Rudolph of Austria. This full-program chamber-music gem features Schubert’s expansive and lush Romantic melodies in this light and entertaining work not to be missed. Reception follows. The Journey of Life: Music that Rescues Us

Event Date:  May 26, 2017 - 8:00pm - 10:00pm Award-winning classical pianist Sungpil Kim performs “The Journey of Life: Music that Rescues Us,” showcasing a Schubert piano sonata, Liszt’s “Benediction,” “The Blessing of God in Solitude,” and “Tenebrae” by Michael Hersch. During the concert, Kim also elaborates on the composers’ lives and career turning points to enhance audience interpretation. A piano prodigy, Sungpil Kim won top prizes in six national competitions in Seoul during his first year of piano study including a grand prize at age 12. COSMIC Symphony Family Concert
