Jug Bay Spring Festival

Project Wild/ Aquatic Workshop

Treehugger 5K

Event Date:  April 21, 2013 - 9:00am - 11:00am Hug it out at the 1st annual Treehugger 5K encouraging healthy lifestyles and a healthy environment. This fast, fun and green event provides a great opportunity for you and your family to enjoy our earth’s natural environment. The family-friendly 1K, which runs immediately before Kids Unplugged, makes a loop through Irvine’s amazing meadows, and finishes with kid-friendly relay races and other green games. Wild Edibles: Delicious in a Jar

Event Date:  April 14, 2013 - 9:00am - 12:00pm Did you know your own backyard is a treasure trove of tasty treats? Take a hike through Irvine Nature Center in search of nature’s delicacies and learn the basics of home canning in this exciting workshop! With Naturalist Sara Mills you will learn proper plant identification, preparation and other important tools for safely enjoying wild edibles. Then, come into our kitchen for a short course on canning taught by jelly master Beth Lacey Gill. By the end of our time you’ll be prepped for when spring and summer bounties show up that need preserving.

Bats & Bacardi

We’ll focus on the bats found in Maryland, their behavior and ecology, and debunk some of the common myths surrounding these wonderful – not scary – creatures. Migration & Margaritas
