Walk and 5k Run

Fossil Field Experience

Discover and learn to identify fossils at the largest exposed seam of Miocene fossils in North America on the beach at Calvert Cliffs with a trained guide leading the way. Paddle the Rhode River

Learn about the ecology, history and wildlife of the Rhode River and Muddy Creek on a guided canoe trip. Basic paddling instruction provided. Butterfly and Hummingbird Gardening with Native Plants

Event Date:  May 4, 2013 - 10:00am - 11:00am Learn how to attract butterflies and hummingbirds to your garden by using native plantings. We’ll also tour the new Reading and Butterfly Garden as well. Meet at the Visitor Center Parking lot. This one hour program is part of the Naturalist Series of Park Ranger-led programs that are held throughout the year at Quiet Waters Park. There’s a Hoot in Your Backyard!

Event Date:  February 16, 2013 - 10:00am - 1:00pm The Friends of Jug Bay again partner with Greenstreet Gardens to bring an exciting live presentation of the owls you hear calling in your South County neighborhoods. Learn about their lives, and learn to mimic their calls and to make crafts for the birds. In addition there will be a lively dance and talk by Chief Turkey of the Piscataway tribe in southern Maryland. Bring your kids and your camera to this unique day of fun, and learn how to participate in the Great Backyard Bird Count!
