Café Mezzanotte Italian Cuisine and Lounge

Café Mezzanotte has been a landmark in Severna Park for nearly 15 years, independently owned by Kosmas Koukoulis and Vasilis Lericos for the past three years, and every year has been better than the last. Mezzanotte is known for consistently high-caliber cuisine and exceptionally professional service.

Our cuisine is primarily Italian, featuring elements of both northern and southern Italian styles as well as borrowing from the broader culinary tradition of the Mediterranean. We are truly stubborn about freshness, as only the highest quality ingredients will suffice for our unique menu of pastas, seafood and meats. A newer element of our menu is the Of the Season section, which we change with the seasons to incorporate the freshest ingredients and newest recipes. In addition to our menu, we offer daily additions showcasing fresh cuts of meat and fish, thoughtfully prepared by executive chef Carlo Portillo.

Café Mezzanotte serves brunch, lunch and dinner in any of our three dining rooms, outdoor courtyard or bar and lounge. We also specialize in planning, hosting and catering private events, both on and off premise.

Entertainment and events are another cornerstone at Mezzanotte, as we feature both monthly events and live music every weekend. More information about music and events, as well as menu updates and other promotions, are always available online at www.cafemezz.com.

Sun-Dried-Tomato-Infused Olive Oil

Delicious as dipping oil, marinade or in a sauce

Sun-dried tomatoes
Fresh garlic cloves
Red onion
Black olives
Green olives
Feta cheese
Grated Parmesan cheese
Fresh basil
Fresh rosemary
Fresh oregano
Sea salt
Crushed peppercorns
Extra virgin olive oil

Blanch sun-dried tomatoes in boiling water and rinse immediately with cold water. Peel, crush and mince garlic cloves. Dice red onion, all olives and fresh herbs. Drain and crumble feta cheese. Once the sun-dried tomatoes are cooled, dice them as well. Next, mix all ingredients (except salt and pepper and olive oil) together and blend, preferably using a food processor or high-strength blender. These ingredients can also be blended by hand if necessary. Regardless of the method, this mixture should be blended into a paste.

Add the sun-dried tomato paste to extra virgin olive oil and rest, preferably for 24 hours. Before serving, add salt and pepper to taste.

It is also acceptable to add a minimal amount of each ingredient, chopped rather coarsely, to the olive oil; this will enhance the presentation and freshen the flavor of the olive oil.

This sun-dried-tomato-infused olive oil is presented complimentary with fresh baked ciabatta bread to all guests visiting Café Mezzanotte.
