Heavenly Chicken & Ribs

The Heavenly Concept

Heavenly Chicken & Ribs has a little bit of everything. Something for you, something for the kids, a little entertainment — so it’s heavenly for the family.

For good eating, there’s wide variety: seafood, sandwiches and wraps, burgers, salads, tons of sides and, of course, the best wings this side of heaven. Specialties are Southern Maryland favorites including ribs, fried chicken, collards and crab cakes.

For fun, there’s entertainment by local artists and musicians — and you on karaoke nights.

Owners Gary and Jennifer Armstrong have been Calvert County citizens for almost 25 years. They’ve seen a lot of change during their time here.

In 2001, the Armstrongs had a life-changing experience of their own. Their house was struck by lightning during a fierce thunderstorm. After running their children to safety at a neighbor’s house, they stood in the yard waiting for help to arrive and watched the roof burn off the house. “When something like that happens to you personally, you realize how hard our firefighters work. We have never forgotten them,” says Jen. “It is this community that we live in and that we want to give back to.”

The restaurant’s colors are red, white and blue in honor of those who serve, including our local heroes: the firefighters, police, medical staff … and the list goes on.

“We call our place Heavenly Chicken & Ribs,” Jen says, because “it’s all about providing good food in a place that the whole community can enjoy.”

Heavenly is also a play on the mild and fiery hot sauces served here.
