Grand Opening Franklin State Park for Maryland Day

Event Date:
March 20, 2016 - 12:00pm - 4:00pm

Come meet Maryland's newest state park for Maryland Day 2016!

Explore Franklin Point State Park with us THIS Sunday 3/20/16 from noon - 4 pm! Maryland's newest state park is opening for Maryland Day! We'll be leading hikes at noon and 2 pm or you can walk the park on your own.

Franklin Point has 477 rustic acres of woods, meadow, fields and marsh right on the Chesapeake Bay. We have a parking lot, portapotty and picnic tables. You will get your feet wet - it's spring and some paths are muddy. Bring binoculars and tell us what birds you find. This event is FREE and open to the general public.

Franklin Point State Park was stalled for more than 20 years! This opening is the result of an extraordinary agreement between the staunch local volunteers who kept the project going for more than 20 years, the West/Rhode Riverkeeper, which is maintaining the park for DNR, and the Maryland Department of Natural Resources. It is a local effort and a local success story.
