Sweet Thanks

Dear Bay Weekly:

I wanted to thank you so much for including us in your great article [Measuring Business Success in More than Profits: Vol. xiv, No 47: Nov. 22]. It is a great overview of many companies, like ourselves, who have seen the importance in giving back to support the communities that sustain them. When speaking with people about our company, I always like to say that Sweet Mission “defines” us. It is who we are, and I believe that your article captured that.

On behalf of our fledgling company, thank you so much for including us!

—Caterina Borg: CEO, Mumsies Gourmet Cookies & Tea Cakes LLC; Executive Director, Sweet Mission Program

Dramatic Thanks

Dear Bay Weekly:

I want to express my deepest appreciation for the great review Dotty Doherty gave us on Prisoner of Zenda [www.bayweekly.com]. She is an excellent writer and very supportive of our work.

It is seldom smooth when one works months on a project and, coupling that, with another theater company. But we went for it with Twin Beach Players and have had a great time together.

I was allowed to run free rein on direction, so I had the fun part. My cast has worked so hard, and to receive the kudos in your paper is grand praise. I cannot thank you folks enough for all of your support and for making a very happy day for my cast.

I often sing your praises for your community support. There is no paper out there like Bay Weekly, and many of us in the performing arts field feel the same way. I can only hope that you realize the great and glorious things that you do in the name of the arts, the environment and community spirit.

—Jackie Waymire, Chesapeake Theatre Company

Thanks and Farewell

Dear Bay Weekly:

How do you say goodbye to a place and people you have grown to love?

With you, we ate crabs, oysters and sweet corn for the first time.

Because of you, we learned to love country music.

With you, we explored the Chesapeake Bay and all its wonders.

Because of you, we raised many a frosted glass, and danced and laughed so hard that we cried.

With you, we sang songs in Happy Harbor by candlelight, while Hurricane Isabelle raged around us.

And with you, we helped our neighbors rebuild.

Now we leave you, with the knowledge that with you (and because of you) we have grown. We are better people from having known you. We thank you for your kindness and your friendship. You will always be in our hearts.

Farewell and thank you for welcoming us into your very special community.
