The 2022-2023 So You think You Can Teach Career Changer’s Workshop Series (SYTYCT2022) will present information about Maryland (MSDE) Certification requirements and review three pathways for non-certified newly hired applicants to meet MSDE Certificate requirements including two alternative programs.

Because Anne Arundel County Public Schools (AACPS) still has current vacancies in a variety of teaching positions, our SYYCT workshop agenda will also include information how individuals with at least a Bachelor’s degree and the capacity, competence and passion to teach can be hired by AACPS for current vacancies for the 22-23 school year. We will provide participants with details on how to immediately apply online.

Additional information about the school district’s two MSDE approved resident teacher alternative certification programs, including application requirements and timelines, will be provided. Maureen Gerrity, the program manager for the NDMU/AACC program, will explain the dual certification in special education/general education RTC program. Deborah Montgomery, the program manager for the AACPS/AACC program, will explain the fourteen middle and high school general education content areas and provide a preview of two new elementary and early childhood certification areas which will be added this school year.
