Winter Lecture Series – Oysters and Ecosystems: How the Eastern Oyster Shapes the Bay

January 28, 2021 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

$10

Join Annapolis Maritime Museum for their 5th lecture of the 2021 Winter Lecture Series, featuring speaker Jesse Iliff, River Keeper of South, West, and Rhode Rivers. The oyster has been a linchpin Bay’s ecosystem for millions of years and has impacted the politics and economy of the State of Maryland for centuries.
Jesse will explain how aquaculture has been chipping away at the wild fishery and teach us about the Chesapeake Oyster Alliance, a coalition of non-profits, community organizations, oyster growers, and others dedicated to helping recover the Bay’s oyster population by putting 10 billion oysters in the Bay by 2025.
