DESCRIPTION:This is free science talk titled\, “Mangroves: Superheroes of our Coastal Ocean”\, will be presented by Hannah Morrissette\, Ph.D.\, Coastal Wetland Biogeochemist\, at the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center (SERC). The event is hosted by the Annapolis Cafe Scientifique at 49 West Coffeehouse\, Winebar & Gallery.\nAbout the Talk: Mangroves\, or the forests of the sea\, are important environments for coastlines around the world. Please join Dr. Morrissette for a presentation on her most exciting coastal research (and her best photos!) to learn more about these mighty ecosystems: what they do for us and what we can do for them.\nAbout the Speaker: Dr. Hannah Morrissette is an environmental researcher dedicated to investigating the uniqueness of coastal wetlands\, with years of experience in mangrove\, marsh\, and seagrass conservation and restoration. RESERVE AT SEAT FOR THE TALK BY CALLING 49 WEST AT 410-626-9796.\nFor more information on this talk\, and to access the zoom link if you cannot attend in person\, contact annapoliscafesci@gmail.com

SUMMARY:Crimes of the Heart
DESCRIPTION:The three Magrath sisters are back together in their hometown of Hazelhurst\, Mississippi in the mid 1970’s. Lenny\, the eldest\, never left Hazelhurst — she is the caretaker of the sisters’ cantankerous Old Granddaddy. Meg\, the middle sister\, left home to pursue stardom as a singer in Los Angeles\, but has\, so far\, only found happiness at the bottom of a bottle. And Babe\, the youngest\, has just been arrested for shooting her husband. Under the scorching heat of the Mississippi sun\, past resentments bubble to the surface and each sister must come to terms with the consequences of her own “crimes of the heart.”
