DESCRIPTION:Excitement is just around the corner! The 142nd Maryland State Fair\, open for three long weekends this summer: Aug. 24-27; Aug. 31- Sept. 4; and\, Sept. 7-10. The Maryland State Fair is a fun and educational destination sure to captivate visitors of all ages. The Maryland State Fair is complete with daily home arts\, farm and garden\, livestock and horse competitions and exhibits\, rides\, games\, live concerts and entertainment\, live Thoroughbred horse racing\, fair treats and farm fresh foods\, the U-Learn Agriculture Education Zone\, The Birthing Center\, a museum\, and more. Building\, Carnival\, Livestock/ Horse Show times vary. No admission after 9 PM. After 6 pm anyone under age 18 must be accompanied by an adult age 21 or over. DESCRIPTION:The Annapolis Arts Alliance presents their 14th Annual Juried Exhibit at the Willow Gallery at Quiet Waters Park\, entitled Wild About Wildlife. More than 40 artists from the Annapolis Arts Alliance will have their artwork on display and for sale\, representing a variety of different mediums\, including oil\, acrylic and watercolor painters\, mixed media/collage\, and 3-D artists such as jewelers and potters. The exhibit runs from 8/16-10/1 with the opening reception on 8/20 from 1:30-3:30.

SUMMARY:Calvert County Annual Jousting Tournament
DESCRIPTION:Historic Christ Church hosts the 156th Annual Calvert County Jousting Tournament and Bazaar. The Church Bazaar (including Children’s Corner) runs from 10am – 2pm. Savor a hot dog\, fresh lemonade\, and a snow cone\, and take home homemade baked goods and preserves. Jousting starts at noon with riders competing to spear rings as small as 1/4″ on running horses. In the afternoon\, from 1pm – 4pm\, cool off in the historic church for soothing organ recitals. The Port Republic One-Room Schoolhouse will be open from 10am – 2pm. Top off your day with a traditional church supper in our air conditioned parish hall\, or take it boxed and ready to go\, featuring homemade fare of deviled crab\, fried chicken\, ham (choice of two)\, potato salad\, apple sauce\, and more. Supper held 2pm – 6pm and boxed suppers available from noon – 6pm.
