DESCRIPTION:FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: \nTHE RECORD MUSEUM \nONGOING THROUGH SUNDAY\, DECEMBER 26TH 2021 \nON DISPLAY AT: My Vintage Vinyl 1244 Richie Highway Ste 13 Arnold\, MD 21012 \nDEBUT EXHIBIT “WEARING OUR LABEL ON OUR SLEEVE – AN INCOMPLETE HISTORY OF RECORD PROMOTION” \nThe Record Museum is a celebration of the record album. It is a portable\, mobile museum with galleries to peruse as one might shop for used records: An interactive installation that we call “musee dans une caisse”. Each gallery – or crate – will contain a rotating program dedicated to exploring the artistry and history of the record album. Programs will highlight and explore such topics as: cover art\, label design\, album construct\, sleeve art & design and poetry\, lyrics & photos contained within. The museum will be admission-free and accessible to all. \nAbout the show: Before the days where a band’s concept of an album extended to the sleeve – printed lyrics\, candid photos\, personal thanks – the record label (or parent company) utilized this space to sell product. In the early days of the ‘long player’\, companies promoted advancement in recording technology – often proprietary – to promote understanding and adoption of Hi-Fi. Through out the decades\, labels promoted their own stable of recording acts; pushing new releases and direct sales to an interested consumer. This new exhibition by Dee Marqués features works by Deonte Ward aka Dee Marqués\, Comacell Brown Jr. aka Cell Spitfire\, Jamison Scott\, Sheldon Pindell\, Letita Scott and more. \nJoin us in the Galleries for an evening of art and shopping. The Art of Criticism opens in The Openshaw Balcony Gallery and the Chaney Gallery features an Artisan Pop Up Shop for all of your holiday shopping. Light refreshments will be served in The Openshaw. \nFrom 5:30-7 pm\, this reception is free and open to the public\, no registration is required. Masks are required for all patrons.
