SUMMARY:The Record Museum
DESCRIPTION:FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: \nTHE RECORD MUSEUM \nONGOING THROUGH SUNDAY\, DECEMBER 26TH 2021 \nON DISPLAY AT: My Vintage Vinyl 1244 Richie Highway Ste 13 Arnold\, MD 21012 \nDEBUT EXHIBIT “WEARING OUR LABEL ON OUR SLEEVE – AN INCOMPLETE HISTORY OF RECORD PROMOTION” \nThe Record Museum is a celebration of the record album. It is a portable\, mobile museum with galleries to peruse as one might shop for used records: An interactive installation that we call “musee dans une caisse”. Each gallery – or crate – will contain a rotating program dedicated to exploring the artistry and history of the record album. Programs will highlight and explore such topics as: cover art\, label design\, album construct\, sleeve art & design and poetry\, lyrics & photos contained within. The museum will be admission-free and accessible to all. \nAbout the show: Before the days where a band’s concept of an album extended to the sleeve – printed lyrics\, candid photos\, personal thanks – the record label (or parent company) utilized this space to sell product. In the early days of the ‘long player’\, companies promoted advancement in recording technology – often proprietary – to promote understanding and adoption of Hi-Fi. Through out the decades\, labels promoted their own stable of recording acts; pushing new releases and direct sales to an interested consumer. Eventually\, even the artist got wise to this opportunity and began promoting their own wares: t-shirts\, belt buckles\, beer can clocks(!). \nFor more information about the museum\, please visit www.therecordmuseum.com \nFor more information about My Vintage Vinyl\, please visit https://www.instagram.com/myvintagevinyl \nMedia contact: John Hamilton @ musee.caisse@gmail.com

SUMMARY:African American Heritage Walking Tour
DESCRIPTION:Trace the journey of African Americans\, and explore their impact both nationally and internationally. This 2-hour walking tour\, offered in partnership with the Kunte Kinte-Alex Haley Foundation and named a “Heritage Award Winner” by the Four Rivers Heritage Area\, starts at Market House Park across from Annapolis City Dock\, where slave ships entered 300 years ago. The Alex Haley statue that marks the significance of the author of Roots and the journey of his ancestor Kunte Kinte is featured. Symbolically\, the stroll continues uphill through local history to the State House and the statue of Thurgood Marshall\, the first African American Supreme Court Justice. Hear of famous Marylanders\, such as Harriet Tubman and Frederick Douglass. Your period-attired guide will highlight the importance of the Underground Railroad in the Chesapeake Bay region. During colonial times\, the labor of both the enslaved and free blacks was the cornerstone upon which the tobacco economy was built. In the 19th-century\, Maryland was home to more free African Americans than any other state. Presently\, Maryland continues to grow because of the important contributions made by her African American residents. The Kunta Kinte-Alex Haley Foundation receives 20% of the proceeds.

SUMMARY:Bluegrass Comeback to Southern Maryland Concert Series-2022
DESCRIPTION:On Sunday February 20\, Danny Paisley & the Southern Grass will be playing traditional bluegrass the way it should be played. With a hard driving\, lonesome sound. Danny is a favorite all over and he has fans here in Southern Maryland. Bluegrass singer\, Alison Krauss considers Danny as one of her ‘favorite singers. His voice combines powerful range and soulful blues with a sound like no one else in bluegrass today.’ When Danny was still in high school\, he stood alongside his dad\, Bob Paisley with the first generation of the Southern Grass. After his dad’s passing\, he took the leading role of continuing the traditional sound of the Southern Grass. He is certainly a “Bluegrass Troubadour.”\nDoors will open at Noon with the show starting at 2:00 pm. Tickets for the shows will be $20.00 per person sold at the door only with children under twelve free with a paid adult. Food and beverages will also be available for sale at Noon for a separate price.
