DESCRIPTION:Join us on select Tuesday mornings for storytime and fun activities in the William Paca Garden\, a secret treasure in the Historic District of Annapolis. Each program is designed for little ones (3-7 years) with a book reading\, song\, craft/art project\, and free time in the garden. \nThis week\, we’ll read ‘John\, Paul\, George & Ben’ and learn interesting childhood facts about John Hancock\, Paul Revere\, George Washington\, and Ben Franklin. Several weeks later\, the Regiment will provide cover for the retreat of American troops at the Battle of Long Island. As the last to leave the battlefield\, their bravery and their sacrifice will come to be known as the “Maryland 400.” \nEngage with the men as they prepare to leave Annapolis and head into battle\, watch them drill for the upcoming fight with British forces\, and talk with their families and see how they prepare their supplies. Learn how the efforts and incredible courage of these men allowed the rest of the Continental Army to escape complete destruction at the first major battle of the Revolutionary War.

SUMMARY:Anne Arundel County Literacy Council Book Fair
DESCRIPTION:The Anne Arundel County Literacy Council (AACLC) will host its 2nd-annual fundraiser book fair outside Discoveries: The Library at the Mall at the Crate & Barrel Court in Annapolis Mall. The fair will feature a range of gently used books including children’s books\, cookbooks\, bestsellers\, romance novels\, memoirs\, mysteries\, thrillers\, historical fiction\, and much more. Books will be priced $2 for hardbacks and $1 for paperbacks. Shoppers will have the option of filling a special edition Literacy Council tote bag with books for $20. PayPal\, credit cards\, checks\, and cash will be accepted. Also at the book fair: gift basket raffles\, a children’s activity\, and more. Proceeds from the book fair will support the Council’s free adult tutoring programs in Anne Arundel County.
