DESCRIPTION:Museum Day is an annual celebration of boundless curiosity hosted by Smithsonian Magazine. As a participant in this year’s event\, Historic Annapolis will offer free entry to two of our historic sites to anyone presenting a Museum Day ticket for the Museum of Historic Annapolis. Tickets are available for download through the Smithsonian Magazine website. \nMuseum of Historic Annapolis\n99 Main Street\, Annapolis | 10 am – 4 pm\nYour Museum Day ticket is good for self-guided entry at the Museum of Historic Annapolis\, where you can enjoy our newest exhibit\, Annapolis: An American Story\, featuring dramatic stories of Annapolis and its diverse people\, an inspiring film\, and three floors of colorful exhibits and collections that enhance your exploration of Annapolis\, A Museum Without Walls™. \nHogshead and Pinkney Street\n43 Pinkney Street\, Annapolis | 11 am – 4 pm\nWith your Museum Day ticket\, visit Pinkney Street and meet the First Maryland Regiment under the command of General William Smallwood\, who are getting ready to leave their family\, friends and sweethearts in Annapolis. Several weeks later\, the Regiment will provide cover for the retreat of American troops at the Battle of Long Island. As the last to leave the battlefield\, their bravery and their sacrifice will come to be known as the “Maryland 400.” \nEngage with the men as they prepare to leave Annapolis and head into battle\, watch them drill for the upcoming fight with British forces\, and talk with their families and see how they prepare their supplies. Learn how the efforts and incredible courage of these men allowed the rest of the Continental Army to escape complete destruction at the first major battle of the Revolutionary War.
