DESCRIPTION:Historic Christ Church hosts the 156th Annual Calvert County Jousting Tournament and Bazaar. The Church Bazaar (including Children’s Corner) runs from 10am – 2pm. Savor a hot dog\, fresh lemonade\, and a snow cone\, and take home homemade baked goods and preserves. Jousting starts at noon with riders competing to spear rings as small as 1/4″ on running horses. In the afternoon\, from 1pm – 4pm\, cool off in the historic church for soothing organ recitals. The Port Republic One-Room Schoolhouse will be open from 10am – 2pm. Top off your day with a traditional church supper in our air conditioned parish hall\, or take it boxed and ready to go\, featuring homemade fare of deviled crab\, fried chicken\, ham (choice of two)\, potato salad\, apple sauce\, and more. Supper held 2pm – 6pm and boxed suppers available from noon – 6pm.

DESCRIPTION:featuring violinist Qing Li of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra \nSaturday\, June 10\, 7:30 p.m.\nMaryland Hall\, 801 Chase Street\, Annapolis \nThe Londontowne Symphony Orchestra’s season finale concert will feature violinist Qing Li of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra performing Brahms’ Violin Concerto in D major\, Op. 77. The orchestra will also play von Suppe’s Poet and Peasant Overture first performed in Vienna in 1846. This “finale to remember” will conclude with Dvořák’s powerful “Symphony No. 9.”  \nAbout the Music \nBrahms’ only violin concerto\, the Concerto in D major premiered in Leipzig in 1879. More recently\, its third movement can be heard in the 2007 film There Will be Blood and it was sampled by Alicia Keys in her 2004 song\, Karma. Extraordinary and versatile guest violinist Qing Li will soar in her performance of the concerto. \nSuppe’s Poet and Peasant Overture is a lively piece that reflects the composer’s talent as a theatre musician and operetta composer. \nThe iconic Symphony No. 9 by Dvořák will end the concert with a powerful melodic theme familiar to music lovers.  \nThe LSO is conducted by Dr. Anna Binneweg. As the Music Director/Conductor of the Londontowne Symphony Orchestra\, the Anne Arundel Community College Symphony Orchestra\, and Music Director designate of the Washington Metropolitan Philharmonic\, is a frequent guest conductor on the national and international scene. Dr. Binneweg repeatedly captures audiences with her enthusiasm and passion for music. Putting her musicians in the spotlight\, she brings out the best in them. Dr. Binneweg’s programs and performances are alluring\, engaging and attract audiences of all ages\, particularly making classical repertoire appealing to all audiences. \nThe LSO brings Central Maryland residents the excitement and passion that only live music can create. She’ll be playing on “The Back Porch”\, of the circa 1770 home\, which sits on 14 acres in Crofton (technically Gambrills).. Come and relax in the back yard of one of Maryland’s most historic properties. Bring a lawn chair or your blanket. Beverages will be available. Local singer\, Daphne Eckman\, will kick off the evening at 5pm\, followed by Nora Brown at 7:00. Nora has recently appeared at the Newport and Philadelphia Folk Festivals\, The Kennedy Center\, and performed for NPR’s prestigious Tiny Desk Series.
