SUMMARY:Art in the Park Jazz Festival Returns to Severna Park
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to the second year of the Art in the Park Jazz Festival held outdoors in Severna Park\, Maryland. The community event features three trend setting jazz and world music groups and fine art displays in the courtyard and interior of Cafe Mezzanotte at 760 Ritchie Highway (Route 2). Admission is $40 in advance and $45 at the door. Parking is free and plentiful. (The rain date is September 25.) \nThe courtyard and gardens open to ticket holders at 1 PM. Attendees can view and purchase fine art and gift selections from Benfield Gallery\, Gallery 564 and Side Street Framers. View works in a variety of media from many of the finest artists in the region. Delicious Mediterranean food and a vast selection of beverages will be on sale. Attendees will be comfortably seated at socially distanced tables and can enjoy strolling the grounds and getting up to dance when the spirit moves them. \nMusic begins with the Alex Lacquement Trio\, featuring Lacquement on upright bass and vocals\, Lucas Choahny on electric guitar and EJ Shaull-Thompson on drum set. Their pleasing and often rousing sound is at the confluence of bluegrass and jazz music. Enjoy Lacquement originals along with works by Bill Monroe and Bill Frisell and other greats. If your haven’t got up to dance at that point\, the mid-afternoon set should get you going. An outstanding quartet is led by two of the nation’s leading Brazilian artists: beloved vocalist Rose Moraes and bassist Leonardo Lucini. They’ll introduce a variety of captivating styles and sounds in their performance: samba\, bossa nova\, Baiao\, samba partida and samba funk! The afternoon winds down with the music of jazz legends performed by Ravita Jazz\, led by bassist Phil Ravita. This set highlights the music of the legendary performers such as Chick Corea\, Bill Evans\, Thelonious Monk\, John Coltrane\, Miles Davis\, and Charlie Parker. SUMMARY:Children’s Chorus of Maryland Now Auditioning for Fall 2022
DESCRIPTION:Audition dates added for June\, July and August! Children ages 5 ½ to 12 are invited to audition for the 2022-2023 Conservatory Season starting in September. Combining nurturing play-based learning with ten levels of educational achievement\, CCM’s School of Music provides a solid musical foundation that students carry throughout their lives. Young choristers attend small-group music classes led by highly-trained instructors\, all of whom hold master’s degrees in music education. Students also participate in choir rehearsals each week with our Artistic Director\, one on one meetings during the semester for individualized feedback on singing development\, as well as performance opportunities throughout the year. Auditions will be conducted on zoom in a friendly\, playful session that lasts about 20 minutes. Parents are encouraged to sit in and observe. Included with the audition fee is our special welcome Sneak Peek E-Package\, which includes a sample audition\, lesson examples\, and fun songs to learn at home!
