SUMMARY:2021 Maryland International Business Leadership Awards
DESCRIPTION:For the past 25 years\, the Maryland International Business Leadership Awards has been the region’s premier business awards event. Each year\, Governor Hogan along with Maryland’s international business community gather to honor companies who embody the idea that Maryland is Open for Business. WTCI and the Leadership Awards Selection Committee choose seven winners from over 100 nominations who represent the diverse cultures\, genders\, industries\, and geography of Maryland. These leaders demonstrate strong business growth and a desire to give back to the community. For 2021 we are excited to be back in person and look forward to celebrating with our network.

SUMMARY:FREE Summer Concert Series - Domenic Cicala
DESCRIPTION:FREE Summer Concert Series – Domenic Cicala\nThursday\, September 30\, 2021\n6:00 PM – 7:30 PM\nAll Ages!\nThe Chesapeake Arts Center will host a terrific lineup of outdoor concerts for the whole family to enjoy in September! \nAbout this event:\nBring your family\, blankets or lawn chairs\, a picnic dinner or just a dessert\, and join us for the sounds of Fall on Thursday\, September 30\, 2021 from 6pm-7:30pm with Singer/ Songwriter Domenic Cicala. FREE admission for the concerts.\nAbout Domenic Cicala: Hailing from the D.C. area\, Domenic Cicala – A singer/songwriter with a love for the 3 minute song. Largely influenced by the holy musical trinity of Hank\, Elvis and Bruce and owing all his musical acumen to the sagely philosophy of Woody Guthrie “If you play more than 2 chords you are showing off”. Domenic is a Roots Rock/Americana artist who performs his own compositions as well as digging deep into the covers catalog.\nDomenic was recently referred to as a “newcomer”. His first public performance was in 2008 and his first record was released in 2014. The CD called “Who’s Foolin Who”\, which garnered a Wammie nomination for “Best Roots Rock recording”\, is a record that brings together many musical elements and styles from country punk waltz to Memphis style R&B to quirky folk/pop. The record features the cream of the crop of DC musicians\, as well as guest appearances by Birds of Chicago and Rachel Harrington.\nWhile performing “relentlessly” as one promoter put it\, Domenic put out Our Favorite Song. The record reached number 34 on the Roots Music Report chart and landed at #128 out of top 200 for 2017.\nCurrently post-pandemic will find Domenic out on the road playing sings from the latest release Come On Over and in the studio working on the follow-up solo project. \n*In the event of rain we will be moving the show indoors to our Hammonds theater.\n*Please bring masks to the event for use of our indoor restrooms.\nLink to the event: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/cac-outdoor-music-concert-series-featuring-domenic-cicala-tickets-168178312861

SUMMARY:ASO Opening Night: LIVE launch to 60th Anniversary
DESCRIPTION:The Annapolis Symphony celebrates opening night with their first performance before a live audience in Maryland Hall since February 2020. \n“I cannot think of a more appropriate way to begin our 60th season than welcoming our community back inside the concert hall\,” said Edgar Herrera\, Executive Director. “We are taking great precautions to protect our audience and musicians\, requiring both mask wearing and proof of vaccination. This season will be a joyful return to the live music we love\, shared with the community in which we live.” \nMasterworks 1: Opening Night Celebration “Nati Plays Tchaikovsky” is Friday & Saturday\, October 1 & 2\, 8pm\, at Maryland Hall and features ASO Concertmaster and Annapolis Symphony Academy Director Netanel “Nati” Draiblate as soloist performing Tchaikovsky’s beloved Violin Concerto plus Claude Debussy’s epic depiction of the sea La Mer. \nOf note for the ASO’s 2021-22 season\, is the representation of women composers in each Masterworks performance. \n“Society is reexamining what equality truly looks like\,” said ASO’s current Artistic Director Maestro José-Luis Novo. “When we look at ourselves in the symphony orchestra world\, we see a strong and growing presence of performing musicians who are women\, yet not as much for women composers and conductors. Consequently\, during this ASO 60th anniversary season we purposely made the decision to seek out compositions by talented women for each of the Masterworks programs. Throughout the season\, we will have the opportunity to hear a range of symphonic works from females who pioneered the field like Florence Price\, the first prominent African American woman composer\, through well-established composers such as Jennifer Higdon and Gabriela Frank\, to rising stars of today\, like Stacy Garrop and Jessica Hunt. Their unique perspectives will add richness and depth to the symphony experience\, and we are extremely excited to share their music with our audience.” \nMasterworks 1 Opening Night Program:\nJames Stephenson Fanfare for Democracy\nStacy Garrop Pandora Undone\nPytor Ilyich Tchaikovsky Concerto for Violin – Netanel “Nati” Draiblate\, solo violin\nManuel M. Ponce Chapultepec\nClaude Debussy La Mer \nThe Annapolis Symphony Orchestra offers subscription packages\, both for in-person and virtual viewing\, as well as tickets for single in-person programs.
