Last Call for Your Pet Tales

We know you have pets.

According to the Humane Society of the United States, 77.5 million dogs and 93.6 million cats around the country share our homes. On top of that staggering census, the Humane Society reports that we also spend generously on our pets — at least $200 per year on vet bills alone. Why not show off your furry money pits?

This week, Bay Weekly collects the final reader submissions for our annual Pet Tales issue August 26.

So far, we’ve got Speedo-wearing dogs and ladder-obsessed cats. It’s a good start, but there are a few things missing.

There are 13.4 million reptiles in the United States as well as 16 million birds and 24.3 million small animals. Don’t they deserve their space in Bay Weekly?

At Bay Weekly we believe in pet equality (well, some of us do). To someone, every boa constrictor named Fluffy is just as adorable as Bay Weekly Editor at Very-Large Moe.

That’s our plea: Send us your Pet Tales — from fish to chinchilla to leopard gecko, we want to see them all. Include your name and your pet’s name, along with a photo of your pet, where your pet lives and a few sentences on your pet’s favorite activities or funniest moments. Direct them to Diana Beechener: [email protected].
