Girl Scouts Earn Community Badges at Humane Society
Dear Bay Weekly,
The Humane Society of Calvert County was delighted to have Girl Scout Troop #2524 visit Fishing Creek Kennel. It is located in Sunderland and is owned by the humane society. The 12 young women were working on their Community badge. Toward that end, they raised enough funds for each girl to obtain a sponsorship of a dog or cat. This money enables the humane society to care for their animals in a variety of ways, including feeding, housing and veterinarian care.
They toured the kennel and got to spend one-on-one time with several dogs. They are pictured with Tank, a pit bull who is a big ham and loves the limelight of attention. The girls met with the president [of the county Humane Society], Kelly St. Marie, and the vice president, myself, Sally Lounsbury. Several volunteers and staff members got to talk with the girls. We were very pleased to have this group of lovely young ladies visit and would welcome them back any time.
Sally Lounsbury, vice president of Humane Society of Calvert County
