Next Wave Jazz Ensemble Concert - Naval Academy Band

Event Date:  February 5, 2013 - 7:30pm - 9:00pm The Naval Academy Band's Next Wave Jazz Ensemble will perform at Georgetown University’s Davis Center on Tuesday, February 5 at 7:30 p.m. Led by Chief Musician Joe McCarthy on drums, “Next Wave” has achieved national notoriety as one of the Navy’s two premier big bands, with its edgy, fearless, and impeccable interpretations of the most demanding repertoire written for today’s jazz ensembles. The Capitol Steps to Perform at St. John’s College

Event Date:  March 2, 2013 - 8:00pm The Capitol Steps return! The Capitol Steps, an irreverent musical-theater troupe from Washington, D.C., will perform in a fundraiser at St. John’s College to benefit student financial aid. The show will include a lively review of songs and spoofs that ridicule public figures across all party lines. The performance, which will be followed by a champagne reception with the performers, will be held in the Francis Scott Key Auditorium on Saturday, March 2. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. Show time is 8 p.m.

Wind Ensemble Concert - Naval Academy Band

Event Date:  February 7, 2013 - 7:00pm - 8:30pm The Naval Academy Band will return to Severn, MD to perform at the Kerr Center for the Arts on Thursday, February 7 at 7:00 p.m. Lieutenant Commander Bruce McDonald will conduct a program of well-known works for the medium, including Lincolnshire Posy by Percy Grainger, Memorial to Lidice by Bohuslav Martinu, Florentiner March by Julius Fucík, and Barnum and Bailey’s Favorite March, by Karl King, as well as a transcription from the orchestral repertoire of Ludwig van Beethoven’s Egmont Overture. Ensign Patrick Hill will conduct Four Scottish Dances by Malcolm Arnold. Doors open at 12:00 noon and the Games will begin at 2:00pm. A delightful selection of sandwiches, snacks, sodas and desserts will be sold by the youth and teens on the autism spectrum.
