Annual Bill Steiner Memorial Canoe Trip

Event Date:  September 29, 2013 - 2:00pm - 7:00pm Join Jug Bay Sanctuary Director, Pati Delgado, for an evening paddle along the marshes of the Patuxent River. The trip is in honor of Bill Steiner, long-time volunteer, canoe guide, and Friends of Jug Bay President. Participants will learn about Patuxent history and wetland ecology along the way. Tidewater Christmas at Friendship House

Event Date:  December 7, 2013 - 10:00am - 4:00pm Friendship House is located on the grounds of the College of Southern Maryland. Built circa 1740 by a member of the Dent family, it is one of the oldest surviving examples of Maryland Tidewater architecture. Originally located on land in Nanjemoy, the first Dent that occupied the tract was Colonel William Dent who inherited the property from his father Thomas in 1674. Stories of Colonel Dent and his relatives offer a glance into an earlier time. US Naval Academy Band

Event Date:  October 10, 2013 - 7:30pm The Naval Academy Band will be performing at the Bowie Center for the Performing Arts on October 10 at 7:30 p.m. The Concert Band is comprised of some of the nation’s finest musicians. Led by Lieutenant Commander Bruce McDonald, the ensemble performs a year-round public concert series featuring varied programs of marches, orchestral transcriptions, patriotic music, and classic wind band repertoire. Hillsmere Elementary Family Fun Fair & Silent Auction

Event Date:  November 2, 2013 - 11:00am - 3:00pm The Hillsmere Elementary Family Fun Fair & Silent Auction is a great event for parents and children alike. Families can enjoy various "experience areas" including games, food, DJ, moon bounce, cake walk, face painting, balloon creations, wellness demonstrations and more.
