Anne Arundel Parks Free to Honor Speaker Busch

Here’s an extra incentive to visit a county park this week and enjoy the newly arrived spring weather: You won’t pay the usual entrance fee.

Speaker of the House Michael Busch, who died April 7, was also an administrator in the Anne Arundel County Department of Recreation and Parks. In his honor, entrance fees at Anne Arundel County parks have been waived through Sunday.

The longest-serving speaker in Maryland history, Busch held that position since 2003. Elected as a delegate in District 30 in 1987, Busch spent 39 years as a youth athletics administrator in the Department of Recreation and Parks.

“Now is the time to recognize the contributions that Speaker Busch so selflessly made to our people and our quality of life,” says Anne Arundel County Executive Steuart Pittman.
