Chesapeake Kids Run for Health
Racing into Chesapeake Country this Sunday April 8 are some healthy kids.
Healthy Kids Running Series, a nationwide program, comes to Anne Arundel Community College this month to help kids in the community learn to run their way to good health.
Healthy Kids is a five-week initiative to help combat childhood obesity with fun and education.
“Our goal is to see every participant improve over the five weeks,” says founder Jeff Long, a former Division 1 runner with more than 30 years of running knowledge. “We are thrilled to have greater Annapolis-area families join this important cause.”
Kids as young as pre-K through eighth grade are welcome. Trainees grouped by age strive for different distance goals, from 50 yards to one mile. Once a week, the trainees and coaches gather to work toward their fitness goals, meet new friends and gain self-esteem.
Graduates earn a medal, a T-shirt and a bag with the program emblem. Trophies reward the boy and girl of each group with the highest score.
Rave reviews left in testimonials by parents involved with Healthy Kids show how significant this program can be.
