Clear the Shelves
Finding a taker for old books can be a challenge. Anne Arundel County Public Library now offers a solution.
Novels, children’s books, fiction, nonfiction, hardback, paperback, DVDs, CDs and audiobooks are all given new life after you donate them at the Discover Books blue collection bins at all county library branches.
Your books will be resold, redistributed or recycled by charitable organizations. Your library also makes a bit of profit.
Discover Books is one of the largest online used booksellers and sources of literary donations to charitable organizations in North America. The organization has donated more than nine million books and diverted 500 million pounds of books from landfills.
“We are excited to partner with Discover Books to help our customers get rid of unwanted materials in a way that benefits the library, protects the environment and supports literacy efforts across the globe,” said library head Hampton ‘Skip’ Auld.
But, sorry, you’ll have to find another use for old encyclopedias, dictionaries, textbooks, magazines, VHS tapes and cassettes.
