24th Annual Oyster Festival
October 16, 2021 @ 12:30 pm - 5:00 pm
$3 – $10On Saturday, October 16 from 12:30 to 5:00 PM, come down to the Captain Avery Museum’s beautiful waterfront property and enjoy food, drink, and live music at our 24th annual Oyster Festival!
We’ll welcome back Tim and Savannah Finch and the Eastman String Band, as well as the classic rock group, Hat Trix. New this year, we are joined by the Eastport Oyster Boys who will share their original music and stories about life along the Chesapeake Bay.
There will be delicious, fresh oysters on the half shell shucked by the Anne Arundel County Watermen’s Association, local beer from Forward Brewing, and food from Skipper’s Pier and Chesapeake Grille & Deli. Wine, soda, and water will also be available to purchase from the Captain Avery bars. Delicious, brewed coffee from Chesapeake Bay Roasting Co. will be the perfect accompaniment to the delicious goodies offered at the indoor Avery Bake Sale.
Choose It! is back with more opportunities to get great deals on goods, services, and experiences. You’ll find tickets to music concerts, boat tours, fine dining, vacations and much, much more for sale. The Choose It! table opens promptly at 12:30 PM and items are limited, so don’t miss your chance!
You can also purchase raffle tickets and be entered to win $5,000! Your contribution allows the Captain Avery Museum to fund its year-round enriching programs like our Winter Luncheon Series, which brings professionals and experts to the museum to speak about various, engaging topics.
Kids’ crafts include shell painting, frame decorating, and origami. There will also be a pirate-themed selfie station for taking family photos.
Our indoor exhibit, “Three Centuries of Chesapeake Bay History”, will be open for self-guided tours. Learn about what life was like for the Avery family in the 19th century, how the community evolved through the 20th century, and into today, when environmental stewardship and conservation are critical to maintain the health of the Bay.
The Captain Avery Museum Oyster Festival is our largest fundraising event and has been a community celebration for over 2 decades. It’s a great time for the whole family with music, games, food and drink, and lots of fresh oysters. We hope to see you there!
