The 4th annual Alternative Christmas Market will be held in the Fellowship Hall of Davidsonville United Methodist Church, 819 West Central Avenue, Davidsonville, MD 21035 on Saturday and Sunday, November 12 – 13 from 10 AM to 2 PM.
The market features gifts that support workers in less developed countries, including toys, scarves and mittens/gloves, trivets and place mats, jewelry, baskets, scented soaps, jackets, ponchos, wooden and fabric wall hangings, different olive wood items, wind chimes, and all kinds of Christmas decorations—ornaments, nativity scenes, candle holders, and more.
The Market sponsored by the Women of Faith group, displays items from Ten Thousand Villages, a fair-trade organization that buys the items from local workers around the world at a fair price, then markets them in the United States. Ten Thousand Villages donates a percentage of their proceeds to Women of Faith, who then fund various local causes, including the YWCA shelter for victims of domestic abuse.
