Food and Drink to Warm Hearts and Fill Stomachs
Whet your Thanksgiving appetite this weekend at Whole Foods in Annapolis, where an array of traditional holiday dishes will be showcased on Saturday noon-2pm. There is no charge and no registration. Show up and enjoy samples of turkey, stuffing, sweet potato casserole, corn pudding, pies, dips, relish and the like. Of course, you’ll be in the right place to start shopping for all those yummy dishes once you’ve been inspired.
Also at the Annapolis Towne Centre at Parole, on Thursday, November 15, Gordon Biersch holds a Winterbock tapping party from 5:30 to 8pm.
“This is an annual tradition,” says regional manager Arthur Forgette. “It’s a great German tradition. It’s a heavier beer and packs a little bit more punch with a higher alcohol content.”
This seasonal lager is brewed in-house to complement winter food, including hearty turkey and wild mushroom meatloaf with garlic mashed potatoes on Biersch’s winter menu.
“This is beer and food that will keep you warm through the cold months,” Forgette says.
He invites you to come by to sample the new brew and enjoy complimentary samples of new winter fare. The evening also features a fundraising effort to benefit We Care & Friends.
In other brew news, Ruddy Duck Brewery & Grill in Solomons has released a pumpkin beer made with pumpkin pulp and seasoned with cinnamon and cloves. Owner Carlos Yanez reports a winter beer, Duckpocaliptic, is in development. Stay tuned for news on Ruddy Duck’s upcoming Mayan lager and End of the World Celebration.
