Free Lessons in How ­Government Works

Who knew back in high school civics class that you’ve got to know how government works to make government work for you? Now’s your chance to re-learn how government works as an inaugural student in the Calvert County Government Citizens Academy.
    The free program features site visits and discussions with county staff that will give a unique insight into the daily work that goes into local government. Subjects include building codes, public safety, recreation, road maintenance, senior programs, water service and more. Instructors are the people who do the jobs, and you’ll go on field trips.
