Give Your Car a Cause

Buying a new vehicle this spring comes with extra benefits to the Bay. Bay-area dealers are competing for the next three months to see who can send the most customers off their lots with Treasure the Chesapeake Bay license plates.
Sales of the iconic specialty tags benefit the nonprofit Chesapeake Bay Trust, which turns that money into grants to get kids on field trips, trees planted and gardens sown across our region. Every 20 Bay plates sold translates to 10 kids on field trips and six trees planted. The grants fund projects all across the state, in every county from the mountains to the coast.
With proposed reductions in federal funding for the Chesapeake Bay, these plates become an even more important source of support.
A Bay Plate costs $20. Buy yours and join the Plate Perks program for discounts, preferred parking and other benefits at participating businesses across Maryland. Among the deals are discounts on Bowie Baysox and Chesapeake Bayhawks tickets, merchandise from Helly Hansen and Ruddy Duck Adventures, waived enrollment fees at Edgewater Fitness, discounted refills at Chesapeake Bay Roasting Company and more.
Dealers — now 138 and counting — include Annapolis Suburu and Volvo plus two dozen more in Anne Arundel County, all four car dealers in Calvert County and many in Waldorf.
