Hail and Farewell
In Their Own Words was my first weekly column. It was a blast for me, and I hope you were inspired by our neighbors. We sure met some characters, didn’t we? The project reminded me that each of us has a story. A beautiful story. We just need someone to listen. That’s what In Their Own Words did. Thank you for listening.
Along with a good project, every good summer has good adventure. This summer, best friends Phil, Connor and I high-tailed it across our beautiful country. Nashville, Grand Canyon, LA, San Francisco, Yellowstone — a few of my favorite stops. We like to call it our Kerouac Trip, but nobody died, so let’s not get ahead of ourselves.
Just like In Their Own Words, such a trip makes you realize the never-ending beauty and diversity of your home.
This summer of change also ends my time at Anne Arundel Community College. I’m about to start at St. Mary’s College of Maryland. Back to school hasn’t been this exciting since kindergarten. I’ll miss family, Annapolis, Bay Weekly and you. But I’ll be back.
It’s an interesting thing, change. But it’s a beautiful thing.
