Jefferson Patterson Park and Museum’s Annual Affair at Point Farm

Sunflowers and flowering grasses stuffed into mason jars atop picnic tables covered by red and white checkered tablecloths decorate the park’s Pavilion, a fully-renovated historical barn. Flickering lanterns add to the homespun charm.

A generous spread and open bar keep you fed and watered. The lively auctions — both silent and live — give you a head start on holiday shopping. Awaiting your bid: Jewelry, sports tickets, gift baskets, fine art, romantic getaways, surfing lesson by legendary surfer Bruce ‘Snake’ Gabrielson, and a behind the scenes tour of the Maryland Archaeology Laboratory, getting your hands on — indeed helping clean — timbers from the ship found at the World Trade Center.

When the calling ends, the barn dance begins to music by 2 For You.

This thigh-slapping good time benefits the educational programs at Jefferson Patterson Park and Museum, including the Indian Village, the Public Archaeology program, summer camps and workshops.

Saturday, September 11 from 5:30-8:30pm at Jefferson Patterson Park and Museum, St. Leonard. $60: 410 586-8515; www.friendsofjppm.org.
