Great GingerbreadDear Bay Weekly: I loved Diana Beechener’s Dec. 3 story on the gingerbread house maker [Building Her Dreams]. What a great idea; covering the Darnall’s Chance show was always fun. Maybe next year, she could do a story from the judges’ point of view, walking around with them as they critique. Carrie Madren, OlneyEditor’s note: Carrie Madren is a former Bay Weekly staff writer.Life through WordsDear Bay Weekly: With a deft choice of details, you brought Pat Smith to life in your generous tribute [from the Editor, Dec. 3]. With admiration, Sonia Linebaugh, Fairhaven CliffsEditor’s note: Sonia Linebaugh is a former Bay Weekly associate editor. Our Tails are WaggingDear Bay Weekly: Just wanted to give you an update on the last of our litter of 11 puppies as they leave our home. They are almost 12 weeks old now. I kept 11 copies of the issue of Bay Weekly they were in [Creature Feature: Oct. 1] to give to all the new families. The family that got our Ebony had seen the article and was really tickled about it. She still had the paper and she remembered reading it and saying, wow that dog had a lot of puppies! Now they have one of them. Pretty neat huh? Debbie Powell, Prince FrederickEditor’s note: Powell’s puppies grew up on outdated Bay Weekly papers dropped off for her at Total Fitness for Women gym in Prince Frederick by delivery driver Tom Tearman. |
