PaddlePalooza 2018
Volunteers will be helping this year’s 100 or so Palooza paddlers circle Chesapeake Bay Environmental Center’s horsehead peninsula, passing through the waters of Cabin Creek, Kent Narrows and Marshy Creek before landing at the Lakeside Pavilion for food, fun and music.
“We have full support with more than 40 volunteers from start-up to celebration,” said the center’s Karen Bogue. “Safety boats and kayakers are stationed around the course. Dock masters and crew get people off the water safely and their gear transported to their cars. Our fabulous entertainment team pours beer, sells raffle tickets and keeps the party going.”
A shuttle to the start (night before or day-of vessel drop-off), rolling-start waves, and beautiful scenery are part of the Paddle Palooza plan.
Spectators can enjoy the party — with a DJ, live music, a beer truck, food trucks and multiple vendors — without the exertion of paddling.
Bring your kayaks, canoes or stand-up paddle boards, paddle, life jacket and whistle; or rent on site (rsvp). $80. All ages welcome; under 18 with an adult. Sa July 14, 8am-4pm, rsvp by July 9 : www.bayrestoration.org.
