Serenity Farm Puts Its Barn to Work

Serenity Farm is no stranger to visitors. Each year, the working farm hosts pumpkin chunkin’, live nativities and more events, all while bringing in crops and tending livestock. This year, the annual fundraiser for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital is taking a new direction.
“We’ve been doing a children’s fun fair for about 10 or 15 years,” says co-owner Theresa Robinson. “We just wanted to try something different to raise money for St. Jude’s.”
This year, Robinson is inviting people to kick up their heels at a barn dance featuring DJ John Hayden. Since Hayden also plays guitar and banjo, the music will be for a country crowd, though Robinson is hopeful that any and all who want to dance will come.
“Whatever anybody wants to do,” Robinson says of the dancing. “I hope to gather any crowd.”
Robinson’s goal is to sell 200 tickets, which would raise at least $3,000 for the children’s hospital

Join the dance from 8pm-midnight September 10 at Serenity Farm, 6932 Farm Rd., Benedict. $15/single; $25/couples: 301-399-1634; www.serenityfarminc.com.
