Smiles on Board
Can a bright smile determine a bright future? Yes, say organizers of a free dental health fair Saturday in Deale.
SoCo Connect, formerly the South County Huddle, arranged for a visit from the Colgate Bright Smiles, Bright Futures Mobile Dental Van for children up to age 12. Kids board the dental office on wheels, designed to be especially friendly and comfy, for a complimentary two-minute visual screening. Then families can head into the Deale Library meeting room for handouts and information from area dental practices. Kids receive a free gift and coloring pages.
“As a dental hygienist, I know that access to care isn’t always easy in a semi-rural area like South County,” says community organizer Janet Taff. “It’s important for our community to come together to help get children set up for good oral health care.”
Pre-registration is required; weather cancellations will be handled by the library. “Interest in this event means that the mobile van may come back to serve even more families in the future,” adds librarian Liz Saniga.
