Something to Smile About
Once again the Colgate Bright Smiles, Bright Futures Mobile Dental Van is making a visit to Southern Anne Arundel County. This time you will find the dental services van parked at Bay Community Health in West River Sept 21.
Children age three to 12 board the dental office on wheels, designed to be especially friendly and comfy, for a complimentary two-minute visual screening. The goal of the mobile office is to raise awareness about the importance of children’s dental health.
Visitors receive a free dental checkup, treatment referrals if needed, learning materials, plus toothpaste, toothbrush and brushing instructions.
No appointment is necessary, and the mobile van is open to all, not just Bay Community Health patients.
“This is a really neat opportunity for us as providers,” says Rayniece Anderson, Care Manager of the Behavioral Health Dept. “We have always wanted to help make some sort of dental connection for our community. MCOs, which provide services to Medicaid recipients, will be on hand to talk about the Healthy Smiles Dental program and coverage for children under the state medical assistance program.”
Anderson said that reps from Aetna, Priority Partners, Amerigroup, Maryland Physicians Care, South County Bridges and the Anne Arundel Crime Prevention Unit will also offer giveaways, tips and options for better dental health.
Sept. 21, 10am-noon, Bay Community Health, West River, free: 443-607-1442.
