Ted’s Last Day

Ted Levitt, proprietor of Chick & Ruth’s Delly on Main Street in downtown Annapolis, spent his last day at work doing what he always has: seating customers and smiling a lot.

On Sunday, September 17, he ate cake to celebrate his retirement from the business his parents founded in 1965. Ted worked at the delly from his teens, learning from his dad Chick and mom Ruth how to provide good service and make the place memorable. After his parents’ deaths, Ted and wife Beth took over the business. Sandwiches named for politicians, history preserved in photos on brightly painted walls and the daily Pledge of Allegiance made Chick and Ruth’s a Capital City landmark.

On September 18, new owner Keith Jones took it all over.
