The Creatures of Spa Creek
Visit Truxton Park in Annapolis Saturday, August 24, with your kids and they’ll learn who’s swimming in Spa Creek. Biologists will identify the fish you pull up in seines. They’ll also hear about the 12 types of animals that make the park home and enjoy a scavenger hunt with prizes.
Experienced captains are standing by to take kids out on the water. Or you might try out paddleboards.
Native plants are available for pollinator gardens.
“Kids on the Creek is our chance to offer access to Spa Creek to those who don’t typically have that access,” says Amy Clements, president of the Spa Creek Conservancy. “We hope these kids will care about the creek by actually being on and in the creek.”
The free community event is hosted by Spa Creek Conservancy and Our Creeks and Conservancy.
Kids ages five and up are invited to join the fun, with free food and refreshments. Register online or at the event. Parents are encouraged to bring a chair and relax while the kids explore.
Kids need a signed permission slip to board a boat. To save time, complete the slip beforehand: http://bit.ly/2YJ5QwP.
