Local Businesses Guide to the Rescue
Your guide to local business is a real treasure trove.
Having all this in one place is so much handier than the little ad clippings that clutter my fridge and desk. I’ve gone through and marked all the businesses I’ve used in the past and the ones I plan to use, starting with Dunkirk Kitchen and Bath, whocame out the week I called to help me solve my kitchen redesign.
Do it more often. And I encourage more merchants to sign up!

Some Nature Observations
The Hillsmere subdivision is located in an urban area, yet, surprisingly, wildlife makes its presence known.
While washing my car in my driveway, I heard a loud clamor from an excited bird. I viewed the street and saw the unbelievable sight of a mocking bird chasing a beautiful red fox who was running full-tilt up the center of the street with the bird constantly dive-bombing.
The Hillsmere Shores beach is a small sand and grass strip that borders the Bay. The next day, there was a group of approximately 30 Canada geese munching on the grass. They totally ignored my presence. I must have been 10 feet from them. A beautiful sight, but one must be careful where you step.
On a winter night, I glanced out of my patio doors and noted six deer munching on excess birdseed that I had tossed on to the concrete patio. They also ignored me. I am always amazed at the deer’s athletic prowess since I occasionally see them wandering the subdivision streets. How can they leap over the high chain-link fence surrounding Quiet Waters Park?
